Typical system

Pumping systems are sized to the head, flow and daily water requirement of the field, using a solar pump controller matched to the array. A 20 kW array is about 34 modules.

Worth knowing

Questions we get asked.

Does it work on cloudy days?: Output drops with irradiance, so flow reduces. Systems are usually sized with some headroom so a normal overcast day still irrigates.
Is dust a problem?: Yes. Dust on the glass is the single biggest avoidable loss on a farm site, so plan for regular rinsing.
Can I run it at night?: Not without storage. Most farms pump during the day and store water rather than store electricity, which is far cheaper.
